Atlific Hotels To Manage Capri Hotel, Trade & Convention Centre In Red Deer, Alberta
January 5, 2009 – Atlific Hotels is proud to announce Capri Hotel, Trade & Convention Centre in Red Deer, Alberta as the most recent addition to its vast and growing portfolio. Recently acquired by Temple Real Estate Investment Trust (TREIT), this hotel becomes the ninth TREIT property to come under the management of Atlific Hotels.
“We are proud to be appointed by TREIT to manage another one of their outstanding properties,” said Philippe Gadbois, Senior Vice President, Atlific Hotels. “The Capri is already well known as a significant player in the Alberta meetings and convention market for its size and central location midway between Calgary and Edmonton. TREIT plans to invest in an $8 Million capital expenditure program to enhance the guestroom and public area experience and will proudly operate the facility as a Sheraton, an upscale brand by Starwood Hotels & Resorts. This exciting investment will maintain the property’s position as a market leader,” added Gadbois.
The enhancement program will ensure that The Capri continues to be the largest hospitality employer in Red Deer and a focal point in Red Deer. With five popular entertainment and dining options, the popular Bellini’s Bar and Lounge, Barbero’s Restaurant, Joe’s Deli, Executive Garden Terrace Lounge & Piano Bar and Billy Bob’s Nightclub, guests of the hotel will have a multitude of excellent choices, and locals will continue to enjoy the wonderful hospitality of these popular established venues.
A family operation for over 40 years, the Capri Hotel, Trade & Convention Centre is now Red Deer’s largest full service hotel with 217 rooms including deluxe and superior guest rooms, and a selection of two level family and Jacuzzi suites. The large Trade and Convention Centre boasts a total of 53,000 sq.-feet of banquet, trade and exhibition space which easily accommodates up to 3,000 attendees. The main exhibit hall is 33,000 sq.-feet and the largest ballroom, at 12,000 column-free sq.-feet accommodates up to 1,000 people. With this announcement comes the appointment of Mr. Gilbert J. Vallee to the position of General Manager. A native of Red Deer, Vallee began his hotel career at The Capri Hotel and served in several positions including that of General Manager. Vallee is a seasoned veteran of the hotel business and a graduate of the Hotel Restaurant Management program at Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. Mr. Vallee has held a number of management positions with Starwood and other respected Canadian hotel brands.
